Job Description

Instructional Technology Specialist, Grade 10NE - The Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) works in a team environment to provide instructional design expertise and services to faculty. Tasks involve (1) the design, development, and evaluation of instructional materials for online or classroom use; (2) providing instruction and support to students and staff to assist them in use of our learning management system; (3) planning and facilitating workshops on the use of new technologies and on tools commonly used in instructional development and delivery; (4) conducting research and providing recommendations on emerging technologies for use in an academic setting, and (5) coaching and training faculty in the development and/or improvement of technology skills. Tools used on such projects may include image and video editing software, and print layout, graphic design, and web development software packages.   The ITS runs Chesapeake College’s online learning helpdesk, providing orientation, training, and technical assistance to faculty and students in online and web-enhanced courses during business and some extended hours. As co-administrator of the College’s online learning software, s/he helps implement course and student uploads at the beginning of each semester, and ensures course/section readiness for each semester.  QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree required, preferably in the areas of instructional technology, instructional design, or Education. At least 2 years of experience working in the instructional technology field. Experience working in a community college setting is preferred.
