Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing, directing and supervising Operating Departments including Banquets, Front Office (Concierge, Front Desk, Telecommunications), Housekeeping/Laundry, Security and Food and Beverage departments (Restaurant/Bar, Room Service) as well as liasion for Bell and Valet Staff. Responsibilities will include ensuring a positive guest experience through the various departments delivering exceptional guest service through Loews standards as well as maintaining full functioning operating departments through Loews SOPs. 

The Director of Operations serves on the Executive Committee of the Hotel and will report directly to the Hotel General Manager. He or she is responsible for the hotel in the absence of the General Manager. 

Job specific duties include but are not limited to: 
**Ensuring staffing levels in operating departments to provide for optimal performance 
**Responsible for the smooth, efficient cost effective operation of the hotel: labor management, inventory control, use of product and adherence to all sanitation requirements 
**Defines annual goals and objectives for reporting operations departments 
**Guides the operating departments to achieve defined goals and objectives of the hotel and company 
**Prepares annual budgets and oversees adherence to budgetary guidelines established within departments 
**Assists in the development of all budgets, forecasts and schedules 
**Addresses service performance issues, ensures compliance to guest service expectations and ensures effective and appropriate resolution. 
**Evaluates management employees, determines areas in need of improvement and establishes development plans to ensure bench strength 
**Evaluates changes in guest needs, the hotels mix to ensure guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining market dominance and exceptional financial performance 
**Works laterally and strategically with all hotel Executive Committee members and Operating Department heads to ensure guest satisfaction and financial success of the hotel. 
**Ability to effectively use technology in place to attain goals and meet the operational efficiency. 
**All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:
The Director of Operations will have five to seven years operational experience in a fast paced, upscale operation of similar size and upscale style as Assistant General and/or, Director of Food and Beverage. Strong food and beverage management background is required in Restaurants and Banquets, previous Director of Food and Beverage is necessary. Additional Rooms background is helpful. Thorough understanding of hotel operations in an upscale hotel setting is necessary. 

He or she should have effective management and leadership skills, proven successful background in attaining guest service and financial goals, polished and professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organized, strategic, financially savvy and works well independently and autonomously are additional requirements. Strong team building skills, accountability, positive business presence with an effective open door policy. 

Past experience in creating budgets, P&L literate are required. 

Computer literacy in hotel systems is required: Microsoft Office, Lotus, Delphi, Opera, Micros. 

The candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays as necessary for the success of the hotel
