Job Description

This is a highly responsible position of management within our organization directly responsible to the Operations Manager. This position is responsible for the overall operations of an assigned restaurant operation. Employees assigned to these positions will be considered salaried-exempt employees for the purposes of Fair Labor Standards Act calculations. General Managers are considered at-will employees and will serve at the specific direction and will of the Operations Manager. Under the stipulations contained in an employment agreement (contract) all General Managers shall maintain proficiencies in all defined performance areas, as directed by the Operations Manager. All employment agreements shall be renewed annually and shall be renewed on the basis of the employee’s ability to meet the identified performance measures. Required Skills and Abilities: • Manage a restaurant within the policies and guidelines of the company to ensure customer satisfaction and profit maximization • Total operational and financial responsibility for an individual unit of operation. • May directly perform hands-on work on an ongoing basis. • Is responsible to train employees, respond to customer service needs, or otherwise provide themselves as a role model to others displaying appropriate behavior at all times. • General Managers provide overall leadership; recognize and motivate members of the team; coach and train the team to achieve operational excellence • General Managers are expected to work 65/80 hours per week, and depending on demand for events, work may demand more time. • Responsible to manage a $2/$4 million dollar annual restaurant-bar operation. • Ensure business and personnel practices are conducted within the law and consistent with policies/procedures • Enforces all labor laws (federal, state and local) • Uphold company food safety, food handling and sanitation requirements, to ensure health and safety of our customers and employees Direct Reports: • Assistant Managers • Restaurant Team Members (including Head Positions) Minimum Requirements: • A High School Diploma or GED is required; supplemented by three (3) years of responsible experience in the restaurant, or other customer service related field. A bachelors degree in a related field is preferred. Employees must be punctual and have the ability to be available off the job site for phone or digital communication. • Basic business math and accounting skills • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills • Good oral/written communication skills • Management/Scheduling/Training of 45+ team members • Strong Analytical/Decision Making skills • Basic computer literacy: MS Word, MS Excel, Google features including email, calendars and docs • Able to work a minimum of 55 hours per week; able to work flexible hours necessary to manage and operate the restaurant effectively Identified Performance Measures: • Control of all operations by scheduling labor, ordering food, liquor, supplies, and developing the restaurant team. • Supervise all Assistant Managers • Ensure Occupational Safety and Health Act compliance, local health and safety codes, company safety and security policy are met. (Safe Staff Certifications, Food Safety Courses, Alcohol Serving Certification are required) • Control Profit and Loss of the operation by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor costs, reviewing/analyzing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions when necessary. • Conduct performance appraisals, take disciplinary action according to protocol, motivate and train all team members. • Ensure maintenance of equipment, facility, and grounds based on company standards. • Ensure food quality and 100% customer satisfaction. • Ensure complete and timely execution of corporate and local marketing programs in congruence with the marketing department. • Ensure a safe work and customer experience environment by facilitating safe work behaviors of the team. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Task involves some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, or light lifting and may involve extended periods of time without sitting. While the ability to speak multiple languages is not required, the ability to communicate clearly in English is necessary. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS While most tasks are routinely performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, some work may be performed outdoors in during difficult weather conditions. SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Some tasks require sound perception and discrimination, visual perception and discrimination.
